Reading across the media: principles and transformations

25. November 2019 Mag.a Susanne Reichl
Department of English and American Studies

This lecture will deal with processes of reading and understanding, with a focus on whether and how reading processes evolve from book to screen. Based on interdisciplinary reading research, I will discuss such issues as the role of memory, attention, embodiment and emotions, and draw attention to the problems involved in researching reading. Students will discover a variety of reading phenomena, learn to differentiate among different reading strategies and styles, and be encouraged to reflect on critical literacy skills.
